**Would you be interested in being a Guardian Home (Info below)** Yes or No- A guardian home is a program where the breeder places one of their potential breeding Bloodhounds in the care of a family or individual, who acts as a guardian (You must be within 3 hours of the Breeder’s home to qualify as a Guardian Home). The Bloodhound lives with the guardian as a family pet but remains part of the breeder's breeding and showing program. Key aspects include: Living Arrangement: The Bloodhound resides with the guardian family, enjoying a typical pet lifestyle. Breeding and Showing Rights: The breeder retains breeding rights to the Bloodhound and may also request to show the dog in competitions. Health and Well-being: The guardian family is responsible for the Bloodhound's daily care, including feeding, exercise, and routine veterinary visits. This includes the cost of preventative gastropexy to avoid bloat, a common issue in large breeds like Bloodhounds. Breeding Responsibilities: The breeder covers the costs and responsibilities associated with breeding, such as health testing and whelping. The Bloodhound will typically have one litter and will remain with the breeder during whelping and weaning of the litter. Contractual Agreement: A contractual agreement outlining the responsibilities and expectations of both the guardian and the breeder, including breeding and showing terms is agreed upon. Reduced Puppy Price: As a perk of the arrangement, the guardian family receives a Bloodhound at a greatly reduced puppy price. Transition: Once the Bloodhound retires from breeding and showing, full ownership will transfer to the guardian family following the spaying of the female, which is at the cost of the guardian family. This arrangement allows Bloodhound breeders to maintain a high standard of care for their dogs and helps the dogs have enriched lives with dedicated families.
